SCHOOL PROFILE

 

CHAMPS Academy is an alternative, non-traditional, high school serving six districts. Formed in 1994, CHAMPS is designed to accommodate at-risk students, ages 14-21, who have not been successful in the traditional educational setting. Targeted students include recovered dropouts, pregnant/teen parents, and/or attendance problems.  Students are bused each day to the CHAMPS campus which is located in Fritch. The five period schedule (9:00-3:00) provides a self-paced curriculum to enable students to obtain their high school diploma.

 

All students and staff members are responsible for building maintenance/ janitorial duties (Pre-Employment lab Institutional Maintenance), and the operation of the school cafeteria (Pre-Employment Lab Food Production).

 

Sanford-Fritch ISD, located in Fritch, serves as the fiscal agent. Each home school determines which students will attend CHAMPS Academy. A guaranteed number of students to be served is determined by each district each year. The current contracts are as follows:
