Fritch Elementary 5th graders participated in a D.A.R.E. culmination program on Thursday, November 9, 2006.  This program was to signify that each of these students received drug awareness resistance education instruction from Deputy Kalin Massengill of the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Department.

   The opening prayer was given by Tiffani.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Currie Cannon.  Opening remarks were given by Principal Vicki McClellan and students were recognized by Deputy Massengill.

   Special recognition was given to students from each of the 5th grade classes taught by Lana Ball, Lara Tharp and Julie Thomas.  In Mrs. Ball’s class, Krissi Burgin was the D.A.R.E. essay winner and Blakely Meek was named outstanding D.A.R.E. student.  In Mrs. Tharp’s class, Cheyene was the essay winner, and Jarrett Jameson was named outstanding student.   Meagan Carrasco was the essay winner and J’Lee Judd was the outstanding student from Mrs. Thomas’s class.  Weekly paragraph winners were Brianna Glosson, Tiffani, and Chelsie Barrett.

   The students and staff at Fritch Elementary wish to thank Deputy Massengill and the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Department for their dedication to teach our students the importance of staying drug free.
