Gifted and Talented

Goals:

Students who participate in services designed for gifted students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication as evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment and that reflect individuality and creativity. High school graduates who have participated in services for gifted students will produce products and performances of professional quality as part of their program services.

Continuum of G/T Student Services:

Sanford-Fritch Independent School District offers a variety of learning experiences and opportunities for Gifted/Talented students in grades K-12 which meet the mandates of the Texas Administrative Code.  These services include, but are not limited to, integrating Depth and Complexity into the curriculum, requiring advanced level products and performances, and allowing identified Gifted/Talented students the opportunity to work with other identified students.  G/T services at Sanford-Fritch ISD begin in the general education classroom.  All teachers have received 30 hours of G/T training and have annual continuing hours of G/T professional development.  Whenever possible G/T students are scheduled together so that they have opportunities to work with other G/T students.   Sanford-Fritch ISD G/T students also have opportunities to work together outside of the general education classroom. G/T curriculum is based on the Texas Performance Standards Project which is the recognized curriculm for Gifted students in Texas
